Donna Elias was born and raised in New Jersey. While attending Atlantic City High School, Donna took an art class and knew she wanted to be an artist. She practised and worked hard teaching herself new skills to reach her dream. While still in high school Donna began working at “Louis Artist Village” on the Atlantic City boardwalk. She learned a great deal from her boss, Louis Levine, and all of the artists on staff.
In 1988, Donna and her husband opened a small gallery in Cape May, New Jersey. She was painting and selling an eclectic mix of subjects from dragons and wizards, to fashion and landscapes when Cape May’s towering lighthouse caught Donna’s attention. Shortly thereafter, lighthouses became her passion and Donna devoted herself to the “Great American Lighthouses” collection. She visited over one hundred lighthouses across the country and completed over three hundred paintings for the collection. It became both a personal and commercial success.
In 2000, Donna’s love of the beach motivated her to begin a new series called “By the Seaside.” The colorful series features paintings of beaches, shore birds, coastal cottages and beach chairs. It is currently her most popular work.
Donna currently divides her time between her home in Fort Myers, Florida and her studio in Brigantine Beach, New Jersey where she continues to paint coastal scenes. To learn more about Donna Elias and view more of her artwork visit: https://stores.donnaelias.com.
