Shawn Gould
Art and nature have always been important parts of Shawn’s life. Growing up, he spent many days exploring the streams and woodlands near his home, establishing a deep love of nature and an unending curiosity to explore the path less traveled. Shawn began his career as an illustrator, creating award-winning science and natural history illustrations for clients such as the National Geographic Society, the Smithsonian Institution, and the National Audubon Society. After a decade of refining his skills as an illustrator, he transitioned to creating his own paintings full-time. Shawn’s paintings blend photorealism and tonalism, balancing precise detail with softer edges and muted tones. Inspired by the changing seasons, weather, and light, his goal is to capture fleeting moments that transform ordinary natural scenes into something special. This authentic realism leaves room for the viewer’s own imagination. Shawn’s work has received national recognition in American Art Collector, Western Art Collector, and American Artist magazines. His paintings have been featured in the Buffalo Bill Art Show, Birds in Art, the Society of Animal Artists’ Art of the Animal, and various galleries and museums nationwide. His accolades include First Place in the Artists Magazine Annual Competition, First Place in the Richeson 75 Animals, Birds, and Wildlife Competition, and an Award of Excellence at the NatureWorks Art Show. Shawn is also a Signature Member of the Society of Animal Artists.
