Collection: Bountiful

by William Brien - Lakota, Dakota, Chippewa, Métis artist

The primary meaning of Dakota floral design (Yuhaha) is a direct acknowledgment of the Dakota people's connection to the "plant nation". Because the Dakota historically relied on local plants for food, survival, and medicinal healing, creating these designs is an expression of gratitude. The plants are viewed as compassionate relatives who willingly offered themselves up so that the people could live. Available December 2026.
